NEWS FLASH 20. 01. 2009 :

He stands 6’7’’ tall, weighing in at 300 lbs, a pro-wrestler by nature, and a native Austrian by birth. 42 year old Viktor Krueger planned his comeback into the fight arena right after a difficult back surgery about a year ago. Contrary to the strict doctor’s orders not to step into the ring for professional full contact fights any more, Viktor made up his mind for good: I will fight again!

The year after the operation was marked by lengthy rehabilitation programs and a new beginning in terms of strength and martial arts training. But now it's done: The unbeaten heavyweight champion in over 17 years of wrestling experience with more than 60 real fights was invited again to Asia on his 16.Tour to participate in shootfights. A so called Shootfight is that kind of fighting where all major martial arts techniques under strict ring supervision are allowed. Merely pulling one’s hair, biting, scratching, spitting is prohibited. And shootfights are fought out until the very end. That is until a classical knock out or a clear and final submission.

When asked whether he was aware that with his 42 years he is not the youngest athlete any more and in addition also running the risk of a severe back injury or worse endangerment, the University Alumni Krueger answered with a definite Yes! “I was born to fight. There is no retiring from that. I still got this unbearable hunger within me. Like a Tiger!” Being pointed out the fact that young tigers might be a lot hungrier, Viktor answered: „That may very well be. The old tiger might not be as hungry anymore. But when he is, he eats everything in its path alive!”

Viktor Krueger is the only globally active Austrian Fighter between the U.S. and Japan with a fight record of 59 wins and only 3 losses.

W A R N I N G:

Before you start your training you should have your doctor check your present body condition. The most efficient training is determined by your endurance and physical limitations.  Through training on a regular basis, you can exceed those limits and succeed in whatever type of training you might choose.

1) One of the first official MMA tournaments in Europe with Top fighters and officials from Japan. The X-Fights are a Gathering of a special kind: All known Martial Arts Techniques are allowed, no breaks until finished and no foul play.

SHOOTFIGHT RULES

(Brief overview, General Shootwrestling Rulebook)

Almost every shootfight is usually being held without brakes or a round system. The time limit is set according to the experience of the fighters as well as the tournament structure. The ultimate goal of a shootfight is to defeat the opponent by using all allowed and generally accepted fighting techniques. This means either to submit your opponent through a painful submission hold or a classical knock-out.

1) Fight Gear and Protection

The fighting gear and protectors are as follows: The fighters will have to wear kick pads if they are to use any kicking techniques such as high and low side kicks, or roundhouse kicks and such. Exceptions are front kicks being carried out with the sole of ones foot. The so called Ax-kick might be controversial and subject to confirm with the tournament officials. To actually wear foot gear in form of internationally accepted flat soled wrestling shoes is optional most of the times. Every participant of such a fight has to wear the specific gear or protection. When in doubt always check with the tournament officials before hand. Always be prepared for the unpreparable!

2) Allowed Fight Actions

- Arm and leg locks of all kinds from head to toe

- Regular choke holds of all kinds

- Punches against the head and body in the standing upright position

- Kicks against the head and body in the standing upright position

3) Forbidden Fight Actions

- To close ones respiratory ducts like mouth and nose with the hand

- Scratching, biting, spitting, and such unsportsmanlike conduct

- Any type of low blows to the groin area

- No small joint manipulation like breaking of toes, fingers

- No eye gouching and fish hooking

- No strikes or kicks to the head on the ground

4) Keeping The Fighters In Line - Control By The Referee

The first warning (yellow card) = The escape is the last resort before the actual tap out of one fighter is grabbing the lowest rope of the ring

Two warnings result in an automatic down in a particular point system.

A warning is being given if...

...a fighter is holding on to one of the ring ropes despite of the referees explicit caution.

...a fighter is using illegal techniques.

At any time, the referee may separate the competitors and send both parties to a neutral corner of the ring, and restart the fight if one of the following should occur:

...fighters are at risk of falling out of the ring.

...lull in action - both fighters appear in a stalemate/deadlock.

...one of the fighters seems unbalanced/dizzy.

...one of the fighters is cut and bleeding.

If a fighter is unstable due to a blow, the referee may separate the fighters - each to a neutral corner - and give a standing ten count.

If a fighter is cut and bleeding, the referee may stop the bout and call the ringside physician to examine the cut. The physician will then determine if the fighter can continue. If the fighter can not continue due to the cut, he must forfeit.

If a fighter is not responding or defending himself, the referee may stop the bout and declare a TKO.

5) The End

A fighter is defeated when:

---he taps out.

---he verbally submits.

---he is knocked out.

---he is disqualified.

---referee and ringside physician state the fighter can not continue due to exhaustion, severe injury, or death.
